Xmas baby 3 Years, 1 Month ago Karma: 2
Some of you will know that my first born was due to arrive on Friday....it turns out she couldn't wait that long and my partner went into labour about 8.30pm Xmas eve.

We now have a beautiful baby girl Eleanor, born at 6:53 on Xmas morning.

The labour was a bit traumatic at points (I'll put that in another post.), but Amelia says she was worth it all.

I now have a whole new bunch of questions and anxieties to both you all with.

What's sleep again?

Night times's aren't good atm. We're actually a little worried. She always seems to be making feeding mouth actions and getting hysterical but not taking much food at a time.

She's ok for periods in her moses basket during the day but at night she won't rest even for a short time. The only time she's happy is when she's lying with us and we don't have a suitable bed for co sleeping.

Hi Weylund, Congratulations to you both on he birth of Eleanor.... what a great xmas present... although she'll be maxing out on presents with a shared xmas/birthday.

We found exactly the same thing with sleep... moses basket in the day and co-sleeping at night. We've been doing the co-sleeping for 10 months now. Our bed wasn't big enough and I ended up on a mattress on the floor.... and the books said I wouldn't suffer or become the second most important person in my wifes life.... huh?!?!?

If you can afford to then I'd get a king/Queen size bed.

I hope its going well! and Happy New Year

my advice would be try to get in to a routine as quickly as possible, at the end of the day it will make you and your baby's life easier.

We had a couple of people in our NCT class that were feeding on demand, and I can asure you that they were the ones suffering the most on the sleep deprivation

anyway being a dad is the best thing enjoy it as much as you can, they only get better and better with time. However Im not sure what mine will be like as tennagers, but I will cross that bridge when I get to it.

Just read the feeding-on-demand comment and agree but we have taken this route and have coped fine... its each to their own I know, but it is possible to do it this way if it works for you and your partner... I think its hard work which ever way you choose to be honest.

In saying all that, I can still remember the 20-40 minute feeds...
