At our first midwife visit we were given lots of gumf about a local ante-natal class every week at our local infant school.

Does anyone know when we should start going to these. At 17 weeks it seems a bit early.

Also is it worth addionally paying for NCT classes on top of the local ones.

17 weeks is too early to start, but you are going to need to get booked on as spaces can dry up.

I personally went for the NCT ones and my wife went to both NCT and the NHS ones.


From our personal experience the NCT ones were better, and they are definitly the best place to meet like minded people in the same situation as you. we are still in contact three years later with 4 of the couples.

I would sugest you contact them and they will let you know when you need to attend and you can pre book your places.

Been away but i would also go with the NCT. They do go quickly so book soon and best wishes.

The NCT is great, not just the classes but they also arrange events including the "nearly new sales" where you can equip your nursery and drawers with as new equipment & baby clothes for a fraction of the price of new. You can then sell them on after they have been worn twice and grown out of at the next NCT sale.....
