2nd day now, at home mid-morning listening to the cricket, emailing pictures to friends and family, coffee to the left and gently rocking the crib with the toe of my right foot. Who says men cannot multi-task!!

A better night sleep last night as we have discovered that baby only likes to sleep at night if she is lying on mum or dad. Does not like moses basket but hoping that with perseverance that will change. And seeing as though her primary source of food is located on mummy, it is logical that she does most of the sleeping on her!! A debate that proved easy to win.

She is all cleaned up now and looks a picture of tranquillity when sleeping. I am still adjusting to the new one, keep speaking to her as I would my boy but forgetting that she is unlikely to understand what I am saying! And suddenly he seems massive as well, but she is welcomingly lighter to pick up. He had a bit of a tantrum when I left him at nursery yesterday, but seemed genuinely excited when we turned up to pick him up with baby yesterday and kept on telling his minders she was his baby!

In order for him to see the new addition as a positive we have in part resorted to bribery, which don't let anyone tell you does not work! When he first met her at the hospital he had a 'In the night garden' dvd wrapped up and waiting for him and then last night a kinder egg surprise which he had to pick up from her crib. It went down very well, with an impromptu 'hank you babeee' and kiss.

So, he is a lover not a fighter at present, but tomorrow is there first full day together so we will see what happens......
